Cast Iron Crescent Plate Large (20″)
This cast iron half-moon plate large is a perfect extension for your kamado if you like to prepare smaller pieces of meat, fish or vegetables in addition to large pieces. Consider, for example, the preparation of shrimp. These will not fall through the bars of the grill but, because of the ridges on the cast iron half-moon plate, will still get nice grill marks! Why cast iron and how to treat it?
Cast iron is a porous heavy metal which has optimal heat conduction. This heat conduction ensures on your kamado that you avoid heat spikes on your grill, which can still happen with stainless steel. As a result, your entire dish is on an even temperature grid. This heat conduction also creates beautiful grill stripes on your dish, which can be converted to grill panes on your dish by turning halfway through. By properly pre-treating your cast iron and re-treating it in a timely manner, it can literally last a lifetime. In addition, proper pre-treatment ensures that nothing will stick to your grate, making it clean again in no time!
